How does one plan a Leh - Ladakh trip for 10 days?
Every adventure lover and biker has a dream to
visit Leh Ladakh once in their lifetime. A Leh Ladakh road trip will give you
the most adventurous thrill. The magical vibes from the mountains and alluring
roads passing through the ‘Land of high passes’ are just exhilarating and
challenging as well.
Ladakh is the land of high passes, and the area
is vast, including Tibet's and Pakistanis too. It was extremely overwhelming to
plan a road trip for a destination I have been longing to go since ages. The
lakes and rivers are also well taken care of as water is extremely precious for
them.
If you want to save money due to less budget,
you can consider traveling by public transport too. In a group of more than two
people, it will be more advisable to hire a car and a driver. The time of
travel in Ladakh road trip will be more by bus than by a private vehicle. There
are several places in Ladakh which cannot be missed out if you are going for
the first time.

Day 1: From Delhi to Leh :
Land at Leh’s Bakula Airport, which is at an
altitude of 11,700 ft. from Delhi. Our tourist guide will welcome you and take
you to the hotel. Rest for the day to get yourself acclimatized.
Visit the famous Shanti Stupa and the Chowkhang
monastery in the evening. Indulge in shopping at the local market of Leh. Stay
in Leh overnight.
Day 2: A day in Leh :
Today you will be visiting several monasteries.
This is one of the wealthiest and most famous monasteries of Ladakh - the Hemis
monastery. You will also travel to Thiksey and Shey monastery. On the way to
stop by to see the famous 3 idiots school and Sindhu Ghat. Overnight stay in
Leh.
Day 3: Visiting valley of flowers in Nubra
Valley
Start your road journey to the Nubra Valley via
the world-popular Khardung La Pass. (the highest motorable pass in the world).
Ride onto a double-humped camel for a memorable camel safari and visit the
silver sand dunes near the Hundar village around the place. Get a glimpse into
the local's lifestyle. Stay overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Nubra Valley to Leh
Leave after relishing sumptuous breakfast. After
a mesmerizing morning, begin your drive back to Leh via the Khardung La pass.
Check into the Hotel at Leh and spend the evening enjoying leisure walks at the
Leh market. Stay in Leh overnight.
Day 5: Visiting Pangong Tso Lake
On the 5th day of the tour, leave early in the
morning to go and visit the Pangong Tso Lake. Cross Chang La Pass at 17500 ft
on the east of Leh. Featured in the famous Bollywood blockbuster movie 3
Idiots, the brackish water of the lake changes color with the sunlight. Enjoy
your day here. Stay overnight at the camp.
Day 6: Pangong Tso Lake to Tso Moriri Lake
Today you will visit the Tso Moriri Lake, the
largest lake in Ladakh, and then drive towards the beautiful Tso Moriri Lake.
Spot Himalayan marmots. Check-in at the camp by evening near the lake. This
lake is a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention in
2003. Stay overnight at the camp.
Day 7: Tso Moriri Lake to Tso Kar Lake
Start your journey towards Leh passing through
Tsokar Lake. Visit Puga Geo-Thermal Gas springs, and Polo-Kongka pass and stop
by Tsokar Lake - a wetland area. Click beautiful pictures, and you can also
visit the monastery in the tiny village of Thukje. Overnight stay at a hotel in
Leh.
Day 8: Leh to Likir / Alchi Monastery
Visit Sham valley after breakfast. En-route stop
by the great statue of Maitreya Buddha in the Likir monastery and the 1000-year
old murals of Alchi monastery. Arrive at Uley/Alchi, do the check-in, and just
relax. Stay overnight.
Day 9 Alchi to Leh
You will first visit the moonland and later
visit the oldest monastery, Lamayuru, which is also one of the largest
monasteries in Ladakh. You will be sightseeing at the Magnetic Hill or the
gravity hill and the Military Hall of Fame - a museum and memorial of the war
heroes. Finally, indulge yourself in last-minute shopping at the popular
markets of Leh, such as Moti market, Balkhang chowk (for apricots), and
supermarket. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 10 Leh - Delhi (Departure)
Today your trip to Ladakh ends with beautiful
and unforgettable memories. You will be assisted with your transfer to the
airport to board your flight back to Delhi.
